AUDIO GEAR

Electro-Voice RE20 Variable-D Dynamic Cardioid Microphone

I absolutely love this microphone. It is the industry standard for voice over / radio / podcasting. Its built to last - and sounds amazing for vocals.

Universal Audio Apollo Solo Thunderbolt 3 Audio Interface

Audio interface for Apple computers - I use this to control levels for any mic's plugged into my computer. Amazing preamps and quality.

Zoom H1 - Portable Audio Recorder

Perfect for recording rehearsals, audio notes, attaching to a camera to capture better sound. Super versatile and great quality. Very affordable audio recorder.

ADAM Audio T7V 7 Inches Powered Studio Monitor

These are the newer versions of the studio monitors I use. Fantastic sound / fidelity.

Shure QLXD14-V50 QLX-D Bodypack System

If you're going to use wireless mics for your ensemble - you need to go with this. With all of the variables involved its best to go with the mic that every successful group uses in all the large arenas. Use this mic for bell instruments.

Shure - VP88 Stereo Condenser Microphone

This is what we use to mic up our winds on the marching field. Ideal placement - 3 of these spread across the front sidelines mounted up on sturdy mic stands about 15 ft up. Don't forget the windscreen / rode blimp.

Shure SM57-LC Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

Industry standard for pretty much any instrument mic'ing situation. These things will survive most any situation thrown at it. I've used these for most of my ensembles on all instruments. Marimbas, vibes, timpani, drumset. This mic is a workhorse. You can't go wrong with these.

GLS Audio Instrument Microphone ES-57

Budget friendly Shure SM57 clone. I usually recommend these to programs that are getting started with amplification, but don't have a robust budget. These get the job done.

YAMAHA Rack-Mount TF-Rack Digital Mixer

I use this mixer with every ensemble that I teach. Extremely versatile, user friendly, tons of features, wireless capabilities with router, expandable, customizable. Probably one of the best investments an ensemble can make for their sound reinforcement rig.

Yamaha Expansion Conditional Access Module (NY64-D)

Expander card for TF series mixers. You need one of these to add the additional expander boxes (TIO 1608-D)

Yamaha Tio1608-D 16-Input, 8-Output Dante Stage Box for TF Series

Dante Expansion box for the TF series mixers. The great part about this eco system is that you can start with a smaller footprint (TF Rack) and continue to add these expansion boxes as your ensemble grows. We use this system at Arcadia and Broken City.

CAMERA GEAR

SONY - A7III - Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

This is my go to photography / videography camera. It's what I use for all of my workshops and rehearsal recordings.

SONY - Full Frame Lenses

Here are the lenses I love and use most often.

Sony 16-35mm Vario-Tessar T FE F4 ZA OSS E-Mount Lens

Great all around lens - considered wide angle - works well for shooting rehearsals as well as shooting from unique perspectives.

Sony 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T FE ZA Full Frame Prime Lens

Fast prime lens that is amazing for photography - especially people. The larger aperture makes this amazing for low light situations. (What I use for workshops)

Sony 85mm F/1.8-22 Medium-Telephoto Fixed Prime Lens

Another fast prime lens that is amazing for photography - especially people. The reach on this lens is amazing - great for getting closeup shots and portraits. Amazing background blur.

Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens

This lens is no joke. It is a beast. Amazing for so many different applications. Nothing beats this for getting action shots of performers on the floor from further away. This is a seriously inspiring lens.

SONY - APSC Camera / Lenses

A more affordable entry into mirrorless cameras - but still with superior quality.

Sony Alpha A6600 Mirrorless Camera

A great APSC (crop sensor) mirrorless camera - with a smaller form factor. It has all the newest features that make Sonys the leader in mirrorless technology.

Sigma 30mm F1.4 Lens for Sony E

Probably my favorite APSC lens - its super fast - extremely sharp - lightweight - affordable - and has amazing image quality. Great for photography and video.

Sony 18-105mm F4 G OSS

Super versatile telephoto zoom. Goes from wide to telephoto. If you could only ever get one lens - this would be it.
